This is the third time I’ve written my “last” President’s letter. Each time I get sentimental and philosophical. This is no exception.
Every time I write about how easy this job is and how rewarding. Well it still is. However most of it has not been my doing. My spinal surgery last March was supposed to be just a couple of months to recuperate. Well, it wasn’t. But you, my wonderful SRVNC friends, made it work. I never saw anyone who didn’t offer their help and support. And still does. I love this group and I am so grateful I found it. I will still be on the board because I want to give back and volunteer wherever I am needed. The best news is, however, that Jan McArdle will be President. I can’t wait to work with her-altho I have been for years as she always was there in any capacity. Good luck Jan!!
Just to clear up some business. There has been some confusion about the dues and when you owe it. The board has come up with a fair way to handle dues from women who join after the year (June) starts. We will collect 2$ per month for every month til the end of the year-whether you join in August or March. Our budget year starts in June and so do our dues. I hope that clears that up.
We are still looking for a Gad-A-Bouts chair. It isn’t that hard and we have notebooks of places to go-many of which was arrived at my a member survey. Most of the time it requires just choosing the place, write up a notice, and take reservations. It doesn’t have to be every month, but this group has always been a club favorite and attracts many new members. Think about it.
Thank you all for helping make me “look good” as your president. I could never do it without you all. Jan, you will be a great leader and I can’t wait to work at your side.
Hugs,
Myrna

I would like to encourage as many members as possible to attend the May luncheon and installation. Your thanks for the work the outgoing board has done and the support for the new board coming in would be greatly appreciated. None of the fun things you do with SRVNC would be available without these volunteers. The program at Alden Lane makes it a “must do” event.

Hi gals,
On the East Coast we say that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. Here it seems to be “lamb, lamb”. Lovin, it.
In this newsletter, we have a slate of officers who will start their term in June. The elections are in April and installation in May. I want to thank Sharon Morrison for heading the nominating committee again and the members who sat on the committee. I want to thank all those wonderful women who have volunteered their time to serve on the board and keep SRVNC a great club. I’m sure over the next couple of months I will be repeating myself, but I can’t thank those board members enough for making my job so easy and fun.
Hugs, Myrna

Hi Gals!
Boy, parties are being planned for groups, our houses are being readied for trimming, we are going into shopping mode and heading into a new year.
I hope all of us get into the spirit of giving thanks by volunteering, donations, or just good will toward all-both strangers and friends.
This has been another stressful year for the family and friends of those in the Middle East who spend every minute of their lives over there protecting us and each other. A big wave of thanks and prayers go out to them. There is no bigger gift than volunteering to offer up their lives for their country.
So enjoy this holiday season with thoughts of family and friends (and Newcomers) and consider a random act of kindness towards a stranger.
Hugs, Myrna

Hi Gals. I guess we are officially into fall. I look forward to it every year, except for the fact that it portends winter-oh well-you can’t have everything!
Every month I try to recognize people who make our club, board and my life easier. Sharon Morrison has been a wonderful mentor for me. She is right on top of things when we have to make changes and is a great listener when I have “issues”. One of these “issues” is the inconsistency some of our activities have getting correct info to Mickey. We have decided to have ALL articles and notices in by NO LATER than the 15th of each month. The website will have it online on or about the 20th of each month.
All members with e-mail will get a reminder that the newsletter is ready and can update their personal calendar. Having a consistent time each month will or should get everyone back into the habit of reading their newsletter in plenty of time to mark their calendar and make reservations for the upcoming month. Also, if these chairpeople would send their articles to me, John and I will proofread them to make sure nothing was left out, and then forward them to Mickey.
If any of our members have a problem that needs addressing, please let me know and I will bring it to the board. Whether we can fix it or not, you will have an answer as soon as the board meets. Also, please feel free to attend any board meeting during the year. It’s the 1st Monday every month and they are usually fun. Come join us and see how your club works as well as having a mid-morning snack. We value our volunteers, so if any have some free time, please consider joining this great bunch.
Thanks for listening, gals-Hugs, Myrna

Hi Gals = we have just passed the halfway mark of summer, gotten through a heat wave, pulled out sweaters to ward off chill and have traveled for wonderful vacations, the gas has stayed under $4.00/gal and all is right with the world.
The groups that were on summer hiatus are getting ready to start up again. So check your favorites for info in Newsletter.
Special thanks to Candace, a fairly new member, for taking on circulation. This club couldn’t make it without our great volunteers , and we have such fun at our board meetings.
Sharon M. and Tina D. have planned several Gad A Bouts in advance, so watch for schedule coming soon to our web site and newsletter. They all sound like fun trips and lunch afterwards is a nice relaxing time to sit back and enjoy friends.
On a personal note, my continued thanks to those who are still helping me navigate with my walker. From rides, golf carts to Crow Canyon CC Mah Jong, steps to get into homes-all of it deeply appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing you soon and hope you are still enjoying summer.
Hugs, Myrna

We have listened to you questioning the increase in dues last year and revisited the budget. Our main expense - by a lot - was the newsletter. Now, due to the fact that we are lucky enough to have Tracey Harper, who has created a beautiful web site from which we can get our newsletter among other features, and Mickey Fisher, who will handle those who are “computer free” from whom we can get our hard copy mailed newsletter, we can reduce our dues back to $25.00 and refund those members who have already paid their current dues. Gals, this will only work if you use the site - which is less difficult that looking up something on Google. We are counting on you to have an open mind and give it a chance. You won’t regret it - as a matter of fact you will love it.
Tracey is planning a short demo at our next luncheon which will display the computer on a screen.
Thanks so much - Myrna

Hi Gals,
I can’t believe that I am writing another president’s letter!! It feels good to be able to talk to all of you together.
There is no question that we are looking forward to an incredible year starting with Gary Bogue and Joan Morris as our first 2 luncheon programs.
There are some thoughts I do have to share with all of you. Recently I had very extensive and painful back surgery. The love and support that I got daily was so needed and I am very grateful. I spoke to a couple of my east coast friends recently about the help that was offered-and mostly accepted and the food and flower deliveries for the first few weeks when I needed a boost the most. I asked these easterners if they ever remember such an outpouring of help during my worst days. No one I asked could remember anything like it. After only eight years California is truly my home and Newcomers my best friends.
Thank you all again and I sincerely hope that if anyone needs me for anything possible from me-it’s done.
Hugs,
Myrna
P.S.-I can’t wait to work with our new and outstanding board!!
