Walt Disney Family Museum & Presidio

San Ramon Gad-Abouts Visit Walt Disney Family Museum & the Presidio

san-ramon-newcomersWhat a blast we had at the Gad-Abouts outing on January 28,2010.  The group went to the Walt Disney Family Museum and took a shuttle tour of the Presidio.

We started the day setting up five car pools for all 21 of us to carpool together.  While driving in caravan formation with cell phones constantly ringing between cars, we discovered there are two – 104 Montgomery St. addresses in SF (our intended destination). The maps were wrong and the GPS’s had us going all over town, which was all part of the fun, but we finally ended up at the right place.

The exhibits in the museum are arranged in chronological order, recounting the history of Walt Disney’s life and career…very interesting.  We had lunch at the Museum Café operated by Wolfgang Puck…very tasty!

Gad-Abouts – Filoli Mansion – November 27, 2007

filoli_composite.jpgFiloli Mansion-November 27, 2007

Fifteen of us enjoyed the morning celebrating the magic of the holiday season at beautiful Filoli Mansion! We experienced the festive holiday spirit by strolling through the grand mansion decorated with swags of evergreen garland, patterned ribbon, and exquisite floral displays. The wintergreen and gold-leafed ballroom was adorned with picturesque holiday trees, intricately designed ornaments, and sparkling lights.

We had a wonderful time shopping for presents while listening to the wondrous melodies of live musical performances.

Afterwards six of us treated ourselves to an outstanding lunch at John Bentley’s Restaurant in Woodside. It was a very fun and worthwhile adventure and I highly recommend it.

Happy Holidays – Tracey Harper

Gondola Ride

GondolaEveryone met at Park & Ride and we were off to Lake Merritt in Oakland for a Gondola Ride and serenade.  As we stepped on to the gondola for the next 55 minutes during our 3-1/2 mile cruise, we were serenaded with with a traditional Venetian folk song.  The weather was beautiful, and I believe that some could have stayed out there all day.

We then headed back to the valley to have lunch in Lafayette at the Metro.  We would like to thank Pam D. (our book of knowledge) for all the history she provided to us no matter where we were.  It was a beautiful day and a nice time was had by all.  For those that could not make it we hope to see you soon.  Those that attended were Paula W., Pat S., Jan Mc., Pam D., and Ginny A.
