San Ramon Newcomer Moving Home to Switzerland
Friday was a celebration of our hiking days with Angelika over the last 5 years. She joined us every Friday except for her family vacations. We were enlightened and enjoyed her stories about Switzerland. These conversations brought back to us the difference between our U.S. lifestyles and her home country’s.
We did hit one of the hot days for hiking but some of us climbed down the boulders at Little Yosemite to enjoy the cool water and wet our bandanas. You can tell hardly see the crystal-clear water in the photo. We shortened our hike by looping around on the canyon view trail where we caught a welcomed breeze. A kind hiker took a photo of us with some of the rolling hills behind.
We had our picnic in Alameda Grove at what may become “our celebration place”. In our group photo are Kathy, Sharon, Angelika, Pat Cecila, Jeanne, Barbara. Bobbie, Shirley, Sondra. Aleta and I are not in the photo.
Angelika was surprised by the gift of a photo album of Newcomer Hikes she has enjoyed with us over the years. Sharon designed and then presented this beautiful album to her. We all loved the photos! We ended the day with a delicious cake Bobbie made that included a small Swiss flag.
Wonderful time, wonderful friends, and wonderful “Bon Vogage” for Angelika!
