SRVNC Volunteer Group New Project
Due to job loss and or home loss, many families have been forced to choose between feeding themselves or their pets – as a result, many animals have been relinquished or abandoned due to their owner’s inability to care for them. The Contra Costa Humane Society recently introduced the ANIMEALS PROGRAM, a pet food bank, in partnership with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties – so far 655 animals have been fed and 276 families have been able to keep their companion animals.
The SRVNC Volunteer Group has added the ANIMEALS PROGRAM to their list of charities to support. If any hiker is interested in donating dog or cat food (can or dry), please bring it along on the Friday hikes and Rose Towery will collect it. Also, if you will be doing the May 1 Hope Hospice walk, you can also give it to Rose at that time, at the parking area. Collecting of dog/cat food will end on the May 14th hike – to be continued in August, when I am back in Danville – It will be noted in the August SRVNC Newsletter.
Thanks,
Rose
