Hi Newcomer Friday Hikers and Guests,
Today, Feb 29, 08, we hiked at Sunol, up Indian Joe and down Hayfield for a total of 2 hours and a little over 3 miles. We stopped many times to observe the lush green hills, flowing stream, and silvery trees shining in the sun against the bright blue sky. The weather was perfect for hiking. I think we all worked up a sweat hiking up Indian Joe. At the top of Indian Joe we stopped at the pond to see the California Newts breeding along the edge of the pond.
We saw many wild flowers along the way including Blight blue speedwell, saxifrage, buttercups, blue witch, milkmaids and several type of geraniums.
Today’s hikers were Debbie L., Kathy I., Jacky H., Lois T., Cindy W., Shirley A., guest Linda V., and Sharon K. It was really nice to have Debbie L. back hiking with us after a long absence!
Thank you Linda for driving and as always adding for expertise with identifying the wildflowers.
