Hike to Sibley Vocanic Preserve

sibley volcanic preserveHi Friday Newcomer Hikers,

Today Marlene M., Cathy K., guest Linda V, and Sharon K hiked at Sibley Volcanic Preserve in Berkeley. We hiked around Round Top Volcano and into the cauldrons. We visited three quarries that exposed some of the geologic history of the area. The day was warm—-in the mid 80’s. We covered about 3 3/4 miles and hiked about 2 1/2 hours. We saw a few new flowers in a wet area close to the quarries. The view of Mt. Diablo was lovely with Round Top in the foreground. The end of the trail was through a much appreciated shady area.

There will be NO HIKE next week, AUG 10th because I will be in Yosemite along with four other Newcomer Hikers. I will see you when we return (with stories to tell, I am sure!). Happy Trails. Until then, Sharon
