Morgan Territory Hike

Today we hiked in Morgan Territory. We started out on Finley Rd which begins as an asphalt road and leads into the park where it becomes a dirt road. It was a beautiful, clear day starting off slightly cool. The California poppies were closed because of the cool temps but we saw lots of small pink geraniums lining the trail along with blue dick, a lot of Wally basket, and some sticky monkey flower. The Wally basket that caught our eyes was the single one growing in the middle of the road. We commented on how they survive in harsh conditions while we struggle in our gardens to get things to grow in the clay soil. (perhaps too much water and fertilizer?)

Today’s hikers were Marlene T., Barbara J., Cecilia M., Rose T., new member Barbara A. and Sharon Kovar–welcome Barbara! We hiked an hour out and an hour back along the easy wide trail with a few ups to get our hearts pumping. Everyone agreed the view from Sulphur Springs Trail was lovely. We hiked about 4 miles. Afterwards we had lunch at Bagel Street Cafe.

Happy Trails, Sharon Kovar
